Experience the Golden Age in your own car
The area of the Beemster, known as the ‘Land of Leeghwater’, was the first great land reclamation project in the world and is today a UNESCO World Heritage Site. But how can you get visitors to experience the wonders and history of a landscape?
Our solution was to create ‘The Land of Leeghwater Time Machine.’ Visitors hire an audio-tour connected to a global positioning satellite, drive to the starting point of the route and simply switch the machine on. They are then guided along a route by a time traveller who not only shows them what there is to see, but who takes them backwards in time—the sound of horse and carriage taking the place of the car engine—and introduces them to the historical figures who reclaimed and sculpted the land around them.
Visitors not only discover the history of the Land of Leeghwater, but experience what it was like back in the Golden Age of Holland.
